Activities

Workshops:

Workshops are the real platforms for mentoring where the mentor and the ward meet. These workshops are conducted with an interval of about 2 months on weekends (6 workshops - a year). Workshops are structured with contents on academics, personality development and life skills. These workshops are designed by Vazhai with the help of experts, wherever necessary. It is necessary for every mentor to attend the workshops.

Students selection Process:

Vazhai selects the students at the beginning of every academic year. List of students satisfying the basic criteria of Vazhai are collected from government schools in Ananthapuram (Villupuram district) and Eriyur (Dharmapuri district) of Tamil nadu.

A team from Vazhai conducts the house visit of the students in the list validating and collating information needed for our selection process. Based on the inputs from the house visit, students are selected.

Academic Munnetra Kazhagam (AMK):

Though mentoring makes the children responsible citizens, to win in the highly competitive world, academic excellence plays a crucial role. AMK is one of the pillars of Vazhai, working on improving the academic level of students. AMK not only helps students to score good marks but also makes them to enjoy their academics.

AMK employs ABL (Activity Based Learning) methodologies where subjects are taught with practical illustrations and through games. Vazhai also has a good rapport with other educational & research institutions, which help us to adopt, customize and use their best concepts.

Post Mentoring:

One to One Mentoring ends when the child completes his/her tenth standard. After tenth, we monitor students at frequent intervals and help in following areas:

  • Career guidance
  • Finding sponsors to pursue their higher education

"Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction."
